Origin of Onyx.
Onyx primarily refers to the parallel banded variety of chalcedony, a silicate mineral. Onyx forms from spring water that has an abundance of calcite dissolved in it. Most onyx slab used today comes from quarries in Southeast Asia, Turkey and Mexico.
Since the time of the ancient Egyptians, onyx has been stained to improve or change its colour. Some cultures believe that onyx holds spiritual energy that will add abundance and happiness to your life.
Most of the blue onyx in use for Interior Design, in the tradition of the ancient Egyptians, is mostly died to obtain its watery blue hues.
